The installation environment and maintenance precautions of butterfly valves are crucial for ensuring their normal operation and extending their service life. The following is a detailed explanation of these two aspects:
Installation environment
Environmental adaptability: Butterfly valves are suitable for indoor and outdoor environments, but in situations with corrosive media and easy rusting, a combination of materials with corresponding corrosion resistance and rust prevention properties is required.
Installation location: Butterfly valves should be installed in a location that is safe to operate and easy to maintain, inspect, and repair.
Temperature and humidity: The working environment temperature of butterfly valves should be between -20 ℃~+70 ℃, and the humidity should be kept below 90% RH.
Installation precautions
Inspection and verification: Before installation, the valve specifications, pressure, temperature, and corrosion resistance should be checked according to the nameplate markings on the valve to ensure that they meet the requirements for use, and each component should be checked for damage or looseness.
Cleaning and preparation: Before installation, remove any dirt, oxide scale, and other debris from the pipeline, and thoroughly wipe the sealing surfaces (end sealing surfaces, butterfly plate sealing surfaces, valve seat sealing surfaces) to remove dust and dirt.
Installation direction: The flow direction of the medium should be consistent with the flow arrow indicated on the valve body. Align the center of the piping before and after, make the flange interface parallel, and tighten the screws evenly.
Stress control: Pneumatic butterfly valves should not have excessive piping stress on the cylinder control valve. Proper support and fixation should be provided on the piping or the body according to the size and weight of the cylinder control valve.
Closed installation: Butterfly valves can be installed on pipelines at any angle, but should be installed in a closed state. When welding pipeline flanges, the valve sealing port should be blocked with a plate to prevent particles and debris from damaging the sealing surface. Remove the valve after welding, clean the sealing surface of the valve and the inner cavity of the pipeline, and then install and fix the valve.
Pressure testing and debugging: Before installation, an empty test should be conducted to ensure that the butterfly valve opens and closes flexibly, and the opening and closing positions are consistent with the pointer indication position. When conducting pressure tests on valves, double flange installation must be used for pressure testing, and the test pressure should comply with relevant standards and regulations.
Maintenance precautions
Daily inspection: Regularly check whether there are leaks, abnormal noises, vibrations, and other phenomena in system components such as valves, and maintain, clean, remove dust, and remove residual stains.
Disassembly and maintenance: Valves should undergo regular disassembly and maintenance, including flushing parts, removing foreign objects, stains, and rust, replacing damaged or severely worn gaskets and packing, and correcting sealing surfaces. After maintenance, the valve needs to undergo a hydrostatic test again and can only be reused after passing the test.
Electrical maintenance (for electric butterfly valves): Check the power and control signal lines of the actuator to ensure that there are no short circuits or open circuits. Regularly test the start and stop functions of the actuator to verify its response speed and accuracy.
Functional testing: Perform full open and full close operation to verify whether the valve opens and closes smoothly, check the sealing performance, and ensure no leakage. Use specialized tools to verify the travel and torque settings.
In summary, the installation environment and maintenance precautions of butterfly valves cover multiple aspects, from preparation before installation to precautions during installation, to later maintenance and functional testing, all of which need to be strictly carried out in accordance with relevant requirements to ensure the normal operation and prolong the service life of butterfly valves.
